WOODBURY - ? Officials say there is a new push for an online pharmacy crackdown in the wake of the growing prescription drug problem.

Sen. Charles Schumer wants to go after online sites that sell pain killers without a prescription.

Schumer is asking the federal government to shut down the websites.

According to Newsday, the number of Long Islanders seeing help for prescription drug abuse has soared 125 percent in the last five years. There has been an 81 percent jump in pharmacy holdups in the U.S. from 2006 to 2010.
