HUNTINGTON - School officials from across Long Island met with law enforcement officials today at a school security forum in Huntington.

The symposium, held at the Huntington Hilton, was spurred by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, as well as a slew of threats to schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

According to safety experts, school districts need to consider perimeter protection to help identify visitors entering their buildings. A more costly option includes a mobile command center equipped with 12 different cameras and thermal imaging.
