Trains were halted and schools were put into lockout mode today as the NYPD closed in on a suspect in Bay Shore.

Suffolk police, K-9 units and NYPD officers were out on Brook Street and Second Avenue today. Newsday reports that they apprehended a suspected shooter, but neither department would confirm if the suspect was caught.
