School lockouts lifted in Islip, Bay Shore after NYPD investigation

BAY SHORE - Trains were halted and schools were put into lockout mode today as the NYPD closed in on a suspect in Bay Shore.
Suffolk police, K-9 units and NYPD officers were out on Brook Street and Second Avenue today. Newsday reports that they apprehended a suspected shooter, but neither department would confirm if the suspect was caught.
Bay Shore and Islip schools were put into lockout mode while cops were on the scene, but the lockouts were lifted in the afternoon. Long Island Rail Road service was also briefly suspended in the area.
