HUNTINGTON STATION - A Suffolk County mother was arrested after she allegedly drove drunk with her three children in the car Saturday night.

Investigators say Sarah Knakal, of Huntington Station, crashed into a pole and a sign on East Jericho Turnpike at around 6 p.m. They say she then left the vehicle and walked on-foot with her 5, 7 and 9-year-old children.

Police eventually arrested her on Dix Hills Road. Newsday reports the children are in the care of family members.

Knakal was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, leaving the scene of an accident and endangering the welfare of a child.
