Sandy relief efforts in full swing in Lindenhurst

LINDENHURST - Relief efforts are in full swing across Long Island nearly two weeks after Hurricane Sandy hit, devastating the area. The Red Cross stepped up its presence in Lindenhurst today with hot meals, bottled water and cleanup supplies. Lindenhurst was one of the hardest-hit areas on Long Island. Floodwaters destroyed many homes, so residents say a hot meal means a lot to them. The Red Cross isn't alone in its relief efforts. Members of St. John's Lutheran Church offered hot meals in the middle of 6th Street today, and Fireside Saloon is offering free food from morning through night.Residents in Lindenhurst still without power after 10 daysGov.
