WOODBURY - With Election Day on Tuesday, the state is working hard to ensure everyone will be able to vote, whether they and their polling stations have power or not.

Nassau County says nearly all of its polling sites have power and LIPA says it's working to restore power to the remaining polling places without electricity. But if turnout ends up severely low because of Sandy, state law allows for an extra day of voting, which could postpone national election results.

Meanwhile, voters registered in Suffolk County can vote by absentee ballot at the Board of Elections in Yaphank until 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow.
