RONKONKOMA - Police say a woman was seriously injured today in a crash with a fuel truck that sent hundreds of gallons of oil spewing over a Ronkonkoma roadway. It happened on Ocean Avenue near Woodlawn Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m. Police say the woman, 29-year-old Jessica Jagodzinski, was driving an SUV and was followed by her boyfriend, Luis Mejias, 39. They say Meijas' car hit Jagodzinski's SUV, causing her to lose control and slam into a truck carrying home heating oil. The impact sent the SUV's engine flying about 200 feet down the road. Hundreds of gallons of oil spilled onto Ocean Avenue and police shut it down for hours as crews worked to clean the mess. Jagodzinski was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she's listed in serious condition. Officials say Meijas and the driver of the fuel truck were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the crash remains under investigation.News 12 Traffic & Weather
