LYNBROOK - A Lynbrook contractor is accused of preying on Sandy victims.

The Nassau District Attorney says Rodrigo Leiton collected money from three different Nassau homeowners to do repairs on their homes after Sandy. However, Leiton never returned to do any of the work and didn't have a license.

Leiton's company was called R & A Home Improvements, Inc. Neighboring businesses tell News 12 they thought the business had been closed down for a while.

Officials say the scheme started a couple of days after Sandy. Leiton was allegedly paid $4,000 to fix a Franklin Square roof, but only threw tarp over it and did nothing else.

A couple of months later, officials say he allegedly cashed a check for $2,500, but did not work on a Merrick home.

The DA says the same scam happened to homeowners in East Rockaway and Valley Stream.

Leiton will be in court tomorrow and faces two to seven years in prison.
