ROCKVILLE CENTRE - A Rockville Centre man has been given summonses that are no laughing matter.
Robert Schiavelli, 41, says he has received two appearance tickets for laughing loudly out the window of his house. He says he was looking out his window on Feb. 13 when his neighbor started staring at him in a threatening manner. Schiavelli says he responded by laughing until his neighbor went away.
Schiavelli's neighbor then called Rockville Centre police, who gave Schiavelli summonses for disturbing the peace.
Shiavelli and his mother claim this incident is the latest development in a long-running feud with their neighbor, who they say constantly makes fun of Shiavelli for being neurologically disabled.
The Schiavellis say they intend to fight the summonses in court.
A spokesperson for Rockville Centre police say the summonses were issued after authorities received multiple complaints and issued several warnings.
