Robert Garelick, Lindenhurst dentist, admits drinking and drilling
CENTRAL ISLIP - Police say a Lindenhurst dentist is facing charges for allegedly drilling while intoxicated.
Investigators say a 57-year-old Robert Garelick was arrested yesterday after a female patient who was having her teeth drilled allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath. She called police afterward, and prosecutors say that Garelick admitted in written and oral statements that he had drank some beer at lunch. He told police that he made a mistake.
Garelick is facing a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment. He was released today on his own recognizance.
People who know the dentist tell News 12 Long Island that they're shocked at the news. They say drinking on the job is very uncharacteristic of him.
