MINEOLA - A former college dean accused of killing two men while driving on drugs was sentenced Monday to prison time.

Robert Beodeker admitted last month that he was high on meth behind the wheel when he struck the two men. The victims had been tending to a disabled car on the side of the road two years ago on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

The judge sentenced the 52-year-old to four to 12 years in prison.

The families of the two victims, 65-year-old Edward Ross and 76-year-old John Elder, say his sentencing is an injustice.

"He chose to do what he did, and that is to kill two people," says Edward Ross, son of the victim of the same name. "Two veterans. My father served in Vietnam. John served in Korea."

Beodeker was an associate dean for Suffolk Community College. He resigned that position last year.
