RIDGE - While the entire Island is in a deep freeze, there's one community that consistently gets colder than anyplace else.

Residents say Ridge might as well have been renamed "Fridge" today. With temperatures in the Suffolk County hamlet typically several degrees colder than other parts of the Island, local residents bundled up extra heavy for the cold.

Experts say the temperature in Ridge likely gets lower than in other parts of Long Island because the land is lower and the colder air tends to settle in.
