Reward upped for info in pit bull dumping case

The Suffolk County SPCA has increased a reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever dumped two pit bull puppies in Riverhead after one

RIVERHEAD - The Suffolk County SPCA has increased a reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever dumped two pit bull puppies in Riverhead after one of the puppies died from his injuries.

Officials say someone dumped the puppies on Dec. 18 in a 6-foot deep window well at the Riverhead Animal Hospital. The puppies had severe mange and were near death when they were found, authorities say.

The male puppy died of his injuries last night.

The SPCA has increased its reward from $2,000 to $3,000.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
