GARDEN CITY - The historic St. Paul's School in Garden City has been saved.

Yesterday, residents overwhelmingly defeated a referendum calling for the demolition of the 128-year-old building, according to Newsday.

The Village Council would have used $3.7 million in bonds to knock down the former Episcopal boys boarding school.

The council said the upkeep was just too expensive.

St. Paul's on Stewart Avenue was once a top prep school in the nation.
