ROCKY POINT - The fierce rains that washed over Long Island have caused unrelenting storm-water runoff at Rocky Point Beach, local residents say.

Neighbors say poor drainage plans by the Town of Brookhaven have led rain to funnel down only a few roads such as Hallock Landing, ripping apart sand and concrete and ruining the beach.

Brookhaven officials say the town has allocated $1.2 million to the problem and commissioned an engineering study that was just completed.

They say whatever repairs are done to fix the problem are going to take some time.
