HOLBROOK - More than a day after the snow stopped, many Long Islanders say they are still waiting for snowplows to come through their neighborhoods.
In Holbrook, neighbors said they were also trapped on their street until early this morning and that if town officials sent the plows out earlier, things might have been different.
In the Town of Islip, residents had similar complaints, saying the first plow didn't come through until 11:30 a.m. and then got stuck.
According to Islip Councilwoman Trish Bergin, the reason for the town's poor performance is less equipment being used and fewer people to operate it as a result of layoffs.
