HEMPSTEAD - About a dozen people boycotted a Hispanic Heritage Month event to support the Hempstead town clerk accused of sexual harassment. Demonstrators were upset that Hempstead Town Clerk Mark Bonilla wasn't invited to the town-sponsored event. Last month, Bonilla was accused of sexually harassing a female employee and then trying to get intimate photos of her to keep her quiet. He's also accused of asking the town attorney if he could pay the woman $10,000 to make the complaint go away. Town Supervisor Kate Murray says she didn't invite Bonilla to the event, which was held inside Hempstead Town Hall, due to the allegations. Murray called for Bonilla's resignation last month, but he won't step down.Nassau DA: Bonilla mulled paying off accuser for silenceHempstead Town clerk on defensive amid calls for resignation
