WOODBURY - A new report out this morning claims some of President Donald Trump's aides may have had repeated contact with Russian officials.

The NY Times reports that U.S. agencies intercepted phone calls between Russian intelligence officials and Trump’s people last year. Those people reportedly include then campaign-chairman Paul Manafort and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Amid these new developments, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is calling for an independent investigation into Flynn and his pre-inauguration contact with Russia's U.S. ambassador.

The Times report also says US intelligence agencies intercepted the communications while investigating evidence Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee.

President Trump responded to the report today tweeting: ‘This Russian connection non-sense is merely an attempt to cover-up the many mistakes made in Hillary Clinton's losing campaign.’

There's no evidence being made available that Trump and his administration cooperated in the hack or had anything to do with it.

A Kremlin spokesman denied reports of the intercepted phone calls.
