WOODBURY - ? Many Long Islanders are hoping President Barack Obama's job plan will help jump-start the economy. A new report from the Census Bureau shows more working Americans are struggling to survive. The report is expected to show that the percentage of the working poor has gone up from 39 percent in the 1960s to 57 percent today.
The new poverty report will be released next week.
