GREAT NECK - ? A new report from the MTA inspector general says Long Island Rail Road crews are wasting time and money.
In the report, officials say crews are coming into work late and leaving early. The report also says routine projects like replacing the Great Neck staircases are taking three times as long as they should. The inspector general says crews have wasted more than $160,000 on that project alone.
LIRR President Helena Williams said in a statement, "We expect our employees to put in a full day of work for a full day's pay. Anything less is unacceptable."
