WOODBURY - ? According to a new report, foreclosures are down across Long Island and the nation. RealtyTrac says the number of homes lost to banks in the U.S. fell 27 percent last month from July of last year. Here on Long Island, foreclosures have dropped nearly 4 percent in Nassau County and 14 percent in Suffolk County.

Officials say the drop is because of processing delays, not an improving housing market.
