Rep. King under fire for Muslim-radicalization hearings

Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) is on the defensive just one day before his controversial hearings on the radicalization of Muslims in the U.S. are set

WOODBURY - Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) is on the defensive just one day before his controversial hearings on the radicalization of Muslims in the U.S. are set to begin.

The chair of the House Homeland Security Committee will convene congressional hearings tomorrow to explore what he calls the radicalization of American-Muslims at the hands of al-Qaida.

Muslim-Americans and civil rights groups are outraged by the hearings, calling them nothing more than a modern-day witch hunt.

Dr. Faroque Khan, who is on the board of trustees at the Islamic Center of Long Island, says he fears the hearings will have a negative impact on soldiers and citizens overseas.

King however, has insisted that residents wait and see what the hearings will actually entail before making judgments.
