WOODBURY - The Long Islander behind some controversial terror hearings is giving up a prominent post.Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) is stepping down as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. Republicans have a six-year term limit rule, and King has been in office since 2005.The Seaford representative has been praised for fighting for security money for Long Island during budget cuts, but he has been criticized for his controversial hearings on American Muslims and terror.
