WASHINGTON - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords announced over the weekend that she is leaving Congress.

Giffords says she is resigning to concentrate on her recovery.

The wounded Arizona representative broke the news in a video message on her Facebook page.

Giffords was shot by a gunman who opened fire just over a year ago.

A total of six people were killed and 12 others, including Giffords, were wounded.

Giffords will meet with constituents in Tucson to finish the meet and greet political event that was stopped by last year's shooting.
