LONG BEACH - Relief is on the way for Long Beach, one of the areas on Long Island hit hardest by Sandy.
Long Beach City Manager Jack Schnirman says water is on its way to the city, and he hopes residents will have it by early next week. Meals will also be distributed on the east and west ends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Schnirman says FEMA and building inspectors are also going door-to-door to assess damage and determine if buildings need to be condemned.
LIPA is assessing Long Beach since the city's electrical grid is not working.
