WOODBURY - After a blizzard pummeled the region, major airports in New York are only offering limited service today, stranding hundreds of people.

Airport officials say high winds created snow drifts, which made it difficult for crews to keep the runway clear.

At LaGuardia Airport, officials only opened one runway today and are leaving it up to individual airlines to decide if they're going to arrive or depart.

MacArther Airport was reopened at 4 p.m., however, Southwest Airlines canceled all flights until 9 a.m. tomorrow. US Airways says it will have sporadic service after 7 p.m. tonight.

JFK Airport says it reopened to travelers at 6p.m.

Transportation officials are also urging travelers to check with their airline before leaving home for the airport. Weather Center Watch News 12 Watch Traffic and Weather Submit Photos/Video
