FRANKLIN SQUARE - According to AAA, a record number of travelers are expected to head out to their holiday destinations. A total of 90 percent of those people will be on the roads.

Christmas and New Year’s Day both create three-day weekends this year, which is why AAA says many people have decided to drive.

The average price for a gallon of regular on Long Island is $2.26, according to AAA. On Christmas Eve last year, prices were 57 cents more.
