Record number of heroin-related deaths reported on LI

WOODBURY - New statistics have revealed that a record number of people have died on Long Island from heroin use.

According to medical examiners, 110 people died in Nassau and Suffolk counties last year from heroin-related overdoses. 

According to Newsday, 83 of them overdosed in Suffolk alone.

A special investigation found many are turning to heroin because the crackdown on prescription abuse makes it harder to get pills.
