SYOSSET - A Queens man is facing charges for assaulting a Nassau ambulance medical technician.

Police say Randolfo Catu was seen by the off-duty AMT stumbling onto Cold Spring Road in Syosset yesterday.

The AMT called 911 and tried to help Catu, thinking he was under the influence.

Cops say that is when Catu became irate. According to police, Catu pushed the victim onto the road and punched him several times causing cuts and bruises. A witness stopped Catu and held him on the ground until police arrived.

Catu is charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
