Rally held to protest Cuomo's proposed cuts to disability services
HAUPPAUGE - More than a thousand people rallied against planned cuts in Gov. Andrew Cuomo's budget that could hurt the developmentally disabled.
Long Islanders gathered outside Cuomo's Hauppauge office to protest a proposed $240 million in funding cuts, which are set to take effect April 1. The cuts would affect programs and services for those with developmental disabilities.
State Sen. Kemp Hannon, who chairs the Senate health committee, says lawmakers are working to fight those proposed cuts.
