UNIONDALE - Some 1,000 supporters of the Nassau Coliseum redevelopment project gathered outside the arena today for a rally and concert.

Islanders' owner Charles Wang and County Executive Ed Mangano (R-Nassau) addressed the crowd, which consisted of union workers who were promised some 3,000 jobs if the plan is approved, and Islanders fans who want to see the team stay on Long Island for the next 30 years.

Some of the team members also spoke at the rally and signed autographs.

The event was headlined by the band Blue Oyster Cult.

Nassau residents will vote on the proposed plan next Monday.
