MASSAPEQUA - Hundreds attended a rally yesterday in Massapequa to support a local Marine who was paralyzed in a hit-and-run crash last month.

Lance Cpl. Billy Ventura, 22, was riding his motorcycle on Route 25 in Selden on July 3 when police say he was struck by an SUV.

Ventura says it means a lot to him to have the support of his community.

Witnesses describe the hit-and-run driver as a woman in her 50s, possibly Hispanic or Indian. She was driving a large silver or gray SUV.

Police are asking for anyone with information to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
