Quick-moving Suffolk officer pulls baby from Brentwood pool

BRENTWOOD - A baby is alive this morning, thanks to a quick moving Suffolk County police officer.

Police say the 16-month-old was found in a backyard pool just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

The incident happened at a home on Bishop Road in Brentwood.

Police Officer Ramses Cerdas scaled a fence, grabbed the baby from its mother and performed CPR.

Soon after the baby began to breathe on its own.

This morning, the baby is recovering at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
