Protesters camp out in state's capital over proposed budget

Protesters from all across the state descend on the state capitol building in Albany, even camping out on the floor, to protest the proposed budget

ALBANY - Protesters from all across the state descend on the state capitol building in Albany, even camping out on the floor, to protest the proposed budget plan.

Many protesters say that the budget makes unnecessary cuts to state programs and departments, including education.

Among the protesters were a number of students from SUNY New Paltz who said that the proposed cuts would make college unaffordable for many in the state.

Legislators argue that decisions must be made to close the $10 billion budget deficit.

The budget is due on Friday.
