WOODBURY - A new proposed law is aimed at keeping predators away from places that are magnets for kids.

Suffolk Legislator DuWayne Gregory wants to protect children who visit places such as amusement parks from sex offenders on the prowl.

Gregory wants to make it illegal for registered offenders to live less than a quarter mile from amusement parks in Suffolk County. Homeless sex offenders are especially a concern, Gregory says, because you can't track them.

"We have 30 or so homeless sex offenders and they place them in motels nearby that we've looked at as well," he says.
