CARLE PLACE - Macy's at Roosevelt Field Mall, which was open 24 hours a day since Tuesday, was the place to be for last-minute shoppers this Christmas Eve.

Friday morning at 5 a.m., the store was as busy as any regular shopping day with procrastinators and early birds strolling the aisles.

Shoppers said they think they had the right idea, which is to get the last-minute deals without the crowds.

Nancy Nemorin, of Merrick, said she likes being around other last-minute shoppers on Christmas Eve.

"You don't feel so bad because you see other people in the same situation and you think if you come in early, you can get out early and no one has to know that you were here," Nemorin said.

Other stores had special Christmas Eve hours as well.

Still, some said they'll still have to make another trip to stores tomorrow.
