WASHINGTON, D.C. - More than a dozen famous Americans received the nation's top honor today.

President Barack Obama awarded the 2013 Presidential Medal of Freedom to recipients, including Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, and the late astronaut Sally Ride.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom was established by former President John F. Kennedy.

The president also laid a wreath on JFK's grave to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his assasination on Friday.
