ROCKVILLE CENTRE - Officials say power is back in Rockville Centre after being out for four hours.As many as 15,000 customers were in the dark since just before 11 a.m., but most had their power back by 2 p.m.The village police chief says a power feeder cable burned out. The blackout came just hours before a public hearing on a proposal to raise electric rates in the village by 11 percent. Rockville Centre has its own power company.Officials say the cost of electricity in the village is less than most of Long Island under LIPA, even with the rate increase.
