HICKSVILLE - ? With the holiday rapidly approaching, post office officials are deeming today the busiest mailing day of the year.

The U.S. postal service expects more than 800 million cards, letters and packages to be mailed on this day alone.

Officials say this is the last day for sending a package in the regular priority mail to arrive for Christmas. Packages can be sent out tomorrow if you choose express delivery, however it will cost more.

The electronic mailing system at the post office in Hicksville can be used to mail packages or cards any hour of the day because it is in service for 24 hours. The post office will be open until 9 p.m.
