A police officer from Long Island who survived Sept. 11 was honored at LaGuardia Airport Thursday afternoon as he retired.

Port Authority K-9 Lt. David Lim, of Lynbrook, was the first Asian K-9 officer in the Port Authority and had served for 34 years. Co-workers describe him as a hard worker who served as a mentor and role model to younger officers.
