A West Babylon grandmother pleaded not guilty before a judge this afternoon after allegedly driving high with her 2-year-old grandson in the car. Police say

WEST BABYLON - A West Babylon grandmother pleaded not guilty before a judge this afternoon after allegedly driving high with her 2-year-old grandson in the car.

Police say they pulled over Donna Catania, 54, at Arnold Avenue and Rosella Court in West Babylon yesterday morning. They say her grandson was in the backseat of the car and was released to a relative.

Investigators say Catania was charged with a felony under Leandra's Law. She is also facing charges for driving while impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities say there have been three Leandra's Law violations within the past two weeks, forcing some to question its effectiveness.

Catania is being held on $10,000 bond, or $5,000 cash bail.
