Police: Wedding guest tried to steal couple's gifts

PATCHOGUE - A New Jersey teen is being held on $5,000 cash bond for allegedly trying to make off with the gifts at a weekend wedding in West Sayville.Police say 18-year-old Omar Santiago was attending the wedding of his girlfriend's uncle Saturday at the West Sayville Country Club when he was spotted with the white box containing envelopes that had been given to the bride and groom. Investigators say Santiago was seen running to the bathroom, where he allegedly stuffed the envelopes into his pockets before making a dash for the exit. Other guests at the wedding tailed and then detained the teen until police arrived.

Police say all the wedding gifts were recovered.

Santiago was arraigned today on grand larceny charges.
