HEMPSTEAD - ? Police are warning drivers in Nassau County to beware of someone who is pretending to impersonate an officer and pulling people over.

According to police, around 10 p.m. last night a man repeatedly flashed his lights at a car on Central Avenue in South Hempstead. The driver pulled over.

Police say the driver was approached by a man who told the victim he was an officer.

The man demanded that the victim give him his ID, registration and insurance papers.

The man also took the victim's wallet. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
