WOODBURY - A New York state law enforcement union has agreed to accept major concessions to help save the state money.
The deal includes a wage freeze through the 2013 fiscal year and higher health care premiums and co-pays for union members.
In addition, overtime compensation will now exclude sick days from counting toward hours worked.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) says if other unions agree to similar concessions, the state could save $450 million and avoid layoffs.
