Police suspect Southern State Pkwy. crash driver was high, speeding

MALVERNE - Police reportedly suspect that 17-year-old Joseph Beer was high and speeding when the car he was driving crashed on the Southern State Parkway early yesterday morning, killing four teens.

Officials say Queens residents Neal Rajapa, 17, Christopher Kahn, 18, Peter Kanhai, 18, and Darian Ramnarine, 18, died in the accident.

Police say Beer was driving with a learner's permit when he lost control of the car and hit a tree in Malverne at about 3:30 a.m.

Beer is still hospitalized. Winthrop University Hospital officials say they can't release any information on his condition.

Investigators are reportedly waiting on lab results before pursuing any charges against Beer.Cops: 4 dead in Southern State Parkway car crash
