EAST GARDEN CITY - Police are searching for two men who attacked and robbed a man leaving Nassau Community College.

The incident happened at around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on the East Garden City campus.

According to police, two men approached the 20-year-old as he was leaving North Hall and turned to walk on Miller Avenue.

That is when police say one of the men hit the victim in the head with a black handgun and took a Rolex watch, a cellphone and a gold chain. Police say the men took off in an older-model grey Ford Mustang.

The victim suffered a bruise on his face.

Police are investigating if the thieves are NCC students. They say it appears the victim and the two men knew each other. The victim told authorities that he had said "hello" to them, and even called one of them by his street name, "Trigger."

Joe Muscarella, who oversees the Public Safety Department at Nassau, called the robbery an isolated incident. He says crimes in the area are infrequent.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
