HEMPSTEAD - Police are looking for the suspect who gunned down a 17-year-old in Hempstead on Wednesday.

Authorities say Dante Quinones was shot in the middle of Dartmouth Street last night. Neighbors say they heard more than half a dozen shots, then saw a crowd scatter from the scene.

Family members say Quinones started hanging with the wrong crowd several years ago, and that they warned him to stay off the streets. "He thought he was untouchable," says grandfather Carlos Quinones.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
