Police search for hit-and-run driver in Bay Shore

Police are searching for the driver who struck a woman at the intersection of 5th and Walbridge avenues and then drove off.

Bay Shore - A Bay Shore woman is recovering after police say she was hit by a car which then drove off.

The accident happened at the intersection of 5th and Walbridge avenues at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The 58-year-old woman was found lying on the side of the road with severe cuts on her head. It's not known what type of vehicle hit her.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
