Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a man on Sunrise Highway in Copiague.The incident happened just before 10:30 p.m. last night

COPIAGUE - Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a man on Sunrise Highway in Copiague.

The incident happened just before 10:30 p.m. last night on Sunrise near Bayview Avenue.

Police say a driver slammed into Jose Hernandez, 38, and kept going.

A second driver also hit Hernandez but stopped. The victim, originally from El Salvador, was pronounced dead at the scene.

So far police do not have a description of the car that took off.Anyone with information is asked to call the first squad at 631-854-8152.
