Police are searching for the driver who slammed into a pedestrian in Massapequa last night and left him to die in the street. The incident

MERRICKM - Police are searching for the driver who slammed into a pedestrian in Massapequa last night and left him to die in the street. The incident occurred as the victim left the 7-Eleven on Merrick Road at around 8:50 p.m. Investigators say the driver of a dark-colored sports car, possibly a Nissan 300, struck the man and then kept heading east. The victim, who was known as Don the Hammer to friends in the area, had just purchased a soda from the 7-Eleven, according to the store manager. Police have not released the victim's full name. Anyone with information is urged to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 244-TIPS.
